I had promised myself not to comment of this subject again but, oh, that makes me mad. Besides busting a couple of kids for playing (isn't that what recess is for?), you made a good point about using schools to brainwash kids that hunting and fishing is wrong. One one hand, the states make millions of dollars each year from licenses and taxes while on the other, they give our money to schools to teach such things.
The NRA funds programs to teach kids about conservation, why can fishermen do the same? Too bad there isn't a nationwide organization we can join, and support, to teach the good points of fishing. Maybe we can start at the state level.
I have a t-shirt that my youngest daughter gave me for a birthday (I'm not saying which one) that simply states, "I'm not a hunter but a wildlife population control specialist". She also gave me a hat, "Born to fish, forced to work". These same people who call me a murderer, like PETA advocates, shop for their fish in supermarkets and pay $4.50 a pound for farm raised trout and catfish. They never had the thrill of battling a fish on a tight line. Of course they haven't experienced the excitement of finding a perfectly good second hook in its guts either. So who is the winner and who is the loser?
