Tube jigs - How do you fish them?
#5
I fish tube jigs in many ways. I vertical jig with them, I troll them, and I cast and retrieve them. I used them yesterday at Strawberry with good success. Yesterday, because of the wind and no anchor, I threw the tube into the water and let it sink almost to the bottom. Then I retrieved the jig by reeling it back to the boat, pulling it up and letting it fall as I did so. I use a sensitive rod (Loomis 721 GL3)with 6lb fireline and a fluorocarbon leader. I can feel the fish mouth the jig with this setup, and as soon as I feel any pressure, I set the hook. I have my greatest success with tubes in the early Spring and Fall at Strawberry. It is just going to get better and better for tubes at Strawberry as the weather cools!
