Recent flyfishing reports for Oregon
#6
John Day River - October 6th, 2004
supplied by: Deschutes River Outfitters
RECORDED: [Image: ptcloudy.gif] 70 ° [Image: blackSpacer.gif] FISHING: Good
The water level is now around 311cfs at Service Creek!

The smallmouth fishing has slowed down some, but the steelhead fishing is beginning to pick up especially in the lower river.

Smallies should still be eating buggers, streamers and even some topwater during the heat of the day. Steelhead anglers are having the best success nymphing as the water level is still fairly low with limited swinging runs available.
