[black]steelies come to boise river[/black]
Idaho Fish and Game crews will begin transporting adult steelhead to the Boise River on November 10.
Up to 1,000 steelhead may be released between Glenwood Bridge and Barber Park by Thanksgiving.
Anglers must have steelhead permits, available at license vendors and Fish and Game offices, but are not required to use barbless hooks as they are in the rest of the state's waters where wild fish may occur. Wild fish no longer return to the Boise River.
The steelhead released in the capitol city's waters are adults surplus to the needs of the Idaho Power Company owned and funded Oxbow Fish Hatchery and are trapped at Hells Canyon Dam on the Snake River.
