Social Security and Fishing Lisences
#3
this dose not sound right to me...
michigan ask for your drivers license... no it dose not require you to display your license any more, this dose offer the benifit of the game warden to stop you and check for a license. I my self do wear my license visible but I fold it in such a way that the information is not visible so if some one is standing behind me at mc donalds while looking for a fish sandwich no one can get my info.

it is one thing to ask for your ss number it is another entirly to have to present it to the world for inspection. this is your most valuable number and if some one else gets thier hands on it you are doomed....

I would contact the federal governemnt about having to present your ss number on your back in order to go fishing or hunting.

I had a hard time beleiving that the ss number was asked for and even more so that it would have to be presented for the world to see on your person.

so I went to the licene site to pull up the requirements for obtaining a license and sure enuf it dose ask for it.

the reason they give for asking for it seems valid enuff but it is the presenting it thing that bothers me.

from the looks of this you should be able to have any number on the license you want. and not your ss number

any one wishing to look to see what the license looks like can print a sample copy. My printer is down at the moment so I was not able to see if the ss number is indeed displayed.

I am with you in thought that it is totaly unreasonable to have to display your most personal info in order to go hunting or fishing.

I do how ever understand their reasons for checking your ss number to see if you are a dead beat spouce.... we have a lot of them here in michigan and they are caught when they attempt to get a drivers license or plates for thier car. they pick them up right at the "dmv" or if they do a mail in they wait for them at the mail box... this how ever dose not mean they will get a dime out of them.....
for any one who is unaware of this here is what they ask for when obtaining a license.
