A man shot a deer in saginaw county michigan
nothing big, had only one antler with three points on it.
what makes this deer worth repeating the report?
it was a Doe. a three point doe. I about rolled out of my chair when the news reporter said it was a two sexed deer female on one side and male on the other, LOL .... I think some one should sit him down and tell him the rest of the story behind the birds and the bees. and a little history about deer anatomy, (and me for spelling)
Doe White tail deer used to at one time have antlers closer to the last ice age. it is comon to see white tail doe taken every year with antlers. Infact there are other bovine species that both male and female of the species grow and drop antlers every year...
This is why the state of michigan sells antlerless permits and not doe permits like they used to 30 some years ago. I remember a deer report from back then because the dnr did not know weather or not to prosicute the hunter for shooting a 12 point doe. the hunter did not have a doe permit and they did not sell antlerless deer permits.... It went to court and took a month, and the jury said it was imposible to have every deer stop and lift its tail so a hunter could get positive identification before shooting.
the following year we had antlerless deer permits and the doe permit went out the window with the last court case...LOL
