Fly Fishing In Idaho
#9
Welcome to BFT Idaho flygoddess.
supperslammer already told you some of the most popular winter fly fishing places close to Pocatello. I have never seen a smallmouth come out of Springfield but I only fish it 2 or 3 times a year. I have friend that caught a smallmouth out of Springfield around 13" about 4 years ago. The South Fork and North fork are both popular around Idaho Falls. The main snake or any other river that is open will also offer fly fishing opportunities. 2006/2007 fishing regs should be online this next week. When I see them I'll post a link.
Here's a link that you may find useful.

Many of the gages have been ice affected since the cold snap we had a couple weeks ago. If the gage is ice affected it will give you a clue that it probably isn't a good idea to try fly fishing that part of the river.
