Uinta Ice,
We don't know each other but judging by your past posts you are a good fishermen and seem like a decent guy. I'm a licensed fishing captain and have been since 1984. I hold a (MUFV) Master of Unapproved Fishing Vessels and have ran boats in Connectcut, the Great Lakes and NW Florida. Standard practice of all guides/captians I know is 50% up front with no refund if cancelled. I've had people cancel on me then get irrate because I wouldn't refund their depost. I would if I could book another trip, but getting a last minute booking is hard. In Fl. the going rate is $1200.00 day with $600.00 up front. It sucks keeping their money and I would have rather taken them out instead of having them mad at me. But, I've got a boat mortgage, slip fees and house mortgage to pay too and I was counting on that money. Don't be too hard on the guy.
