That was mostly in response to fishing lower in the hole so as not to spook the fish. While I'd agree with that if you looking to hook the lunker of the hole you should cast to the very top of the hole as the biggest fish will be holding there. If you hook a fish at the tail out and it run upstream on you you've just scared the lunker and no more eating
