DWR does good at Deer Creek
#23
[#505000][cool] Ok ok... I'm not going to get sucked into the name calling finger pointing part of this post, this has nothing to do with religion or even Utah per se... but.....[/#505000]
[#505000][/#505000]
[#505000]At face value, "who are these guys hurting by just having a puff seems to be the big question".[/#505000]
[#505000][/#505000]
[#505000]First off I am a certified DRE (Drug Recognition Expert). Anyone who thinks I am blowing smoke (forgive the pun) is welcome to PM me and I will get you my credentials. I have spent hours and hours and hours seeing the effects different drugs on the human body. Basically a DRE is a highly specialized DUI officer. Getting baked on a little wacky tabacky can impair you JUST AS BAD as they guys who drink a case of beer while fishing. [/#505000]
[#505000][/#505000]
[#505000]I have stopped vehicles for driving patterns as bad as alcohol, and seen the drivers do as poorly on the sobriety tests who were only baked on pot. (evidenced by my observations, and blood and urine tests)[/#505000]
[#505000][/#505000]
[#505000]I frown on those who suck down a few beers and drive home just as much as the weed guys. Even one beer can impair and frankly if you plan to drive there should be absolutely no question of your sobriety. If you get in a wreck with only one beer in your system you can be dinged for DUI.[/#505000]
[#505000][/#505000]
[#505000]The big difference is beer is legal if you're of age (and not driving). Maybe some day they will legalize pot, but until they do it is ILLEGAL. If these guys are willing to break that law, what is to stop them from keeping 8 trout a piece, chumming your favorite trout lake, using corn, live bait, fishing with six poles, 4 hooks a pole, poaching ect...? With your logic three hooks on a line is no worse than two right? Who's it hurting?[/#505000]
[#505000][/#505000]
[#505000]Our detectives who work property crimes can show you theft after theft after theft, and fraud after fraud after fraud that are the direct result of drug use. A lot of these drug users can't hold down a job. Drugs are expensive. If you:[/#505000]
[#505000][/#505000]
[#505000]A. have no/sporatic income and[/#505000]
[#505000][/#505000]
[#505000]B. want to buy/use expensive drugs[/#505000]
[#505000][/#505000]
[#505000]that leaves a really big question of how do you pay for them? Start leaving your garage open at night, your tackle box and poles in the bed of your truck along with your tools. Lets see how long they stay there before they wander off. 9 times out of 10 the theif who takes them only wants them to sell for drug money. Worst part is he'll sell your $100 rod for $10-$20 bucks just to go buy a bag of weed. So the question is who is this hurting? The answer is EVERYONE.[/#505000]
[#505000][/#505000]
[#505000]Now to blame and get upset at the DWR for doing their job is just plain silly. If they see a law being broken they are obligated to enforce it. To feel bad these guys will have to pay fines and lose their driving privelge is silly too. [/#505000]
[#505000][/#505000]
[#505000]If they choose to smoke an illegal substance in their home so be it. If they are dumb enough to do it in public where EVERYONE and ANYONE can see them they deserve what they get.[/#505000]
[#505000][/#505000]
[#505000]In the end I find it those who squeal the loudest about this kind of thing (sympathize with the pot smokers) are usually the same ones who are also doing it.[/#505000]
