[#505000]Ok ok I know I said I was done with this thread I guess I was wrong. I bit my when these numbers first came out but since they are being used as the main justification that people can drive stoned. I would ask you to do the math on them.[/#505000]
[#505000][/#505000]
[#505000]Yup the total is %67.8 percent. I find it amusing that a conspicious %32.2 percent is missing. Without seeing your source on these stats I'm guessing the glaring %32.2 are imparied drivers. By far the largest percentage.[/#505000]
[#505000][/#505000]
[#505000]I can also tell you from my experience that those types of accidents listed are more often than not those which are likely to be property damage accidents. The sleepy drivers and the impaired drivers are far more likey to cause or be involved in injury or fatal accidents.[/#505000]
[#505000][/#505000]
[#505000]Looking at the most current government DOT studies ([#000000]http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/[/#000000][/#505000][#505000][/#505000][#505000]) they showed %39 of fatality accidents in 2004 (most current report it takes 2 years to compile them) were alcohol related. That is for alcohol only. Add drug related traffic fatalites and that number jumps pretty significantly. [/#505000]
[#505000][/#505000]
[#505000]Adjusting the radio, spilling your coffee, and other similar causes are more often than not your fender bender accidents. Sleepy and impaired driver are the ones that kill people.[/#505000]
[#505000][/#505000]
[#505000]I also can't remember who put forward they still believe their friends are safer stoned, but I will say this. You are welcome to your opinion, but I'll stick with the hard cold scientific facts which say that is an impossibility. [/#505000]
