Lake Mead 05/07/06
#4
If I was on a houseboat on Lake Mead during the busy holiday weekend I would head upstream where it would be less crowded.I have not fished Crawdad or Boxcar Coves in a long time. Boxcar Cove will most likely have a ton of campers on shore because it has a road leading to it. Gov't Wash will also be filled with campers. The entire lower basin will be filled with tons of people looking to have fun. Be this as it may, it is a big area and I'm sure you can find a nice little spot to settle into. If you want to catch little stripers at night, anchor near the green bouy at the entrance to the wash. I'd use bow and stern anchors. The depth is around 50' so let out a lot of scope, and use your anchor light. Chum till they come, and then have fun pulling in fish after fish! Good Luck, I'm passing on Lake Mead this weekend.
