True that Chef... I do have an affection pissin' some of ya'll off. Although it ain't real hard. Some on here will get their panties in a bunch over just about anything. I have discovered the off topic board for that though...
Did anyone read the second line of my post ? - "I dont want to accuse Fishley of anything"
That being said, I fish the Gorge a lot any I HAVE seen many guys ripping buzz bombs through the Koke beds and snagging them. I HAVE caught many a Koke or Mack with big scars or missing an eye.
The past few years I have even seen guide boats out an hour early on the Linwood spawning humps snagging Macks, and as Yoda (Tarpon Jim) said, Macks will almost never "bite" those things esp at night.
And even if you are mouth hooking the Kokes off of their beds, those fish are weakened because they are dying. Can anyone deny that the mortality rate goes way up when stressing those fish like that ? And when they start turning pink their flesh gets soft and they arent nearly as good to eat.
Koke numbers have been decimated over the past decade due to many factors. Maybe we as sportsmen could leave the spawners alone during their last few weeks of life and let them do their thing so maybe we could have a better fishery in the years to come.
