Lake Mead Wednesday
#5
Having the right boat makes you mobile. My boat allows me to chase shad in two feet of water or go anywhere on the Lake in almost any weather condition. I think owning the boat, with all the chores that come with it, adds up to about 60% of the enjoyment of fishing. Boat ownership is very enjoyable to me. It does come with a high cost. To tow the boat to the Lake Mead and fish a half day costs about $20.00-$40.00 depending on where we go and what we do. The trailer was totally rebuilt this past summer for a cost of just under $i000.00, a new leaning post system was installed for $750.00, and a new electric trolling motor was installed for around $650.00. We did all the labor and enjoyed every minute of it! Engine maintenance cost about $400.00 also. Is it worth all this time, cost and effort just to catch a few small stripers? YOU BET IT IS! Sitting in my boat watching an awesome sunrise or sunset,or seeing shad spilled all over the deck because the net is loaded up, or watching a child get excited when they feel the bend of a pole, or any of the hundreds of great things that can happen when out on a boat, makes it worth it. Sorry I'm rambling...
So anyway, I'm sure you would find fishing more enjoyable with a boat.
