[#0000ff]You have him believing that a sinking line is heavier than a floating line for the same rod. (The difference is density, not weight)

[/#0000ff][#000000]Saberfish, I believe a sinking line is heavier than a floating. The first 30' of a WF is going to be heavier with the tungsten in the line to make it sink. A floating line is going to be THICKER diameter than a sinking line. In fact the heavier the line the thinner it gets.[/#000000]
Now the line companies determine the weight of a floating in the first 30' of a the line, but I am not sure if they do the same on a sinking.
I do believe that a Type II for a 4wt is going to weigh the same as a TYPE II for a 7wt. and so on, but the diameter might change.
My Depth Charge is 30' of 300 grain lead/tungsten core, then 70' of Intermediate.
The Weighted lines (specially the sink tips to me) are more of a challenge to cast because of that.
Now there is different types of sinkining line like Density Compensated that concentrates the weighted portion more to the front of and the rear of the wf portion. This causes to line to sink UNIFORMLY (no belly)
Wet Cell as I recall, is an even coat causing a belly for fishing weedy waters.
However, I am with you on wanting to see some footage of TUBEN2 "Whipping" 100+ feet of line with no false cast. I am not saying I don't believe it cause you do spey cast, I just wanna see it[laugh][
