With your 60 + years of flyfishing, my 30 years of flyfishing(18 of it in the saltwater) and the numerous years that Dryrod has, there is alot for a newbie or beginner to learn.
I'm sure that even with all the other experienced members combined, there are many years of knowledge to draw from.
There are different strokes for different folks. Your cast is different from mine. Mine is different from Dryrods. Dryrod may share some of your techniques and possibly some of mine. Flygoddess may have a totally different style all together.
We are all different. We do all share the same passion though, fishing with flies.
My preferred method of delivery is not like yours. It still catches me fish and it still catches me a paycheck for catching the fish.
I admit that I am not a "Die in the Wool" lint chucker. I do flip the Shrimp though. Saltwater fly fishing yields some good fishing. I also have a choice of equipment.
I can flip the shrimp from a spin rod or from a fly rod. There is some diversification with it.
Any newbies can have a choice of which style or preferrance they choose to learn from which inhibits their personal growth and style of discipline.
We too need to practice discipline in order or the newbies to be interested in what we have to teach. We are not stuck to only one style.
Your style catches you fish, mine works for me, Dryrods works for him, Flygoddess and all the others have a style that works for them.
It's all good. [cool]
