I agree Scruffy. We had a demo by Ed Robertson (Local casting instructor)
He explained it more like throwing a ball. Throw it 25' in front and you can do the 10/2.....now try to throw that ball 200'. You are definitly widening the stroke. Also watch distance casters. The thing to remember and maybe this is where the 10/2 comes in, is to keep a straight line (like running your hand along a shelf) and not to create a hump like a windshield wiper. In otherwords don't drop the tip till you are ready to lay the line on the water. I do agree also that you want a straight line from reel to tip of line to get the most from shooting the line...no obstructions.
