[cool][#0000ff]That is probably more true with bass than with perch. But, I do not fish for bass in the colder months, when they are deeper. Have only caught a few, by accident, and they all made it back down without fizzing.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Perch, on the other hand, have a very visible protruding air bladder. it is easily poked with any sharp object, without permanent damage to the air bladder, without blood and without pain to the fish. The tissue of that bladder heals quickly...within hours in many cases. With a tiny hole it will seal over quickly.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]And, wherever there are perch there are usually plenty. We try to salvage the smaller ones by releasing when we can, but if a few do not make it there will not likely be a crash of the predator population in the lake.[/#0000ff]
