[black]I think that Bendopolo has the right idea, "why not use a long light spinning rod?" Gary Loomis started his business producing this very rod. now Loomis sells them as a line of "float" rods, and they are way loooong. [/black]

Referencing the original question, I would caution anyone trying to land a fish from a float tube with a long rod. they are great for casting, fishing, but they just do not bend double while landing a fish with one.

Just a little interesting historical note:

Gary Loomis was a big time salmon fisherman, he was not satisfied with the rods currently on the market, so he made a spinning rod using a fly rod blank, and because it worked so well, everyone wanted them to build them one. That's how this former owner of a machine shop got into the successful rod business he has today.
