Well, he used em several times in the 8 year war with Iran which I would consider a neighbor, not to mention his own people..

The cold war was a perfect example of piece through strength, trust but verify! Neither the Us or Russia wanted to wipe each other off the map, consequences would have been too high on both sides. Iran attacks us and the only loser would be Iran and they know it.
We never would have gone into Iraq had their dictator would have acknowledged the countless UN resolutions. At that point it wasn't the U.S. telling him to abide by the resolutions it was a collective world voice! He (
aam) clearly had a choice and he chose poorly. I'm not entirely happy with what's happened over there (Iraq) either but we can't simply pull up stakes and leave. We need to find a way to eliminate the casualties and continue supporting their democracy.. Take Germany for example! How long have we had a significant presence there, like 64 years and we're still there?
As far as you not feeling as safe today in America, is it a coincidence that we haven't been attacked since 9/11? Have the masterminds decide to lay low? I think not. We here of thrawted attacks time and time again, yet you say we aren't as safe. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on that one. How can we possibly be more hated by extremists? The religious/extremist beliefs they hold aren't something new. They have always hated us and our western civilization, it's what they do. There's absolutely nothing you nor I can do about that, it's just the way it is.
Although I disagree with you on these issues, I do appreciate that fact that it's a civil discussion. At least we both agree with the notion, God Bless America[
