Who was saved
#33
Isn't it nice not having SM here??? This thread would have gone to waste long ago. [cool]

Just to add my own 2 cents...

Saddam should have been disposed of LONG ago. I know that the UN resolution in 1990 only gave us the "right" to push Saddam out of Kuwait, but we also supplied and trained Kurds in the North a Shiite's in the South to prepare for our push to Baghdad. Unfortunately, they still rebelled and we left them out to dry. Saddam of course killed THOUSANDS of people for that little uprising.

And does anyone really think the UN is legitimate anymore? I mean, how many high ranking UN officials were in bed with Saddam over the oil for food program? I think it's funny that the story on that broke, and yet the liberal media sweeps that under the rug. When the US started raiding Bathe party offices and the homes of their leaders, they found thousands of pounds of food that was supplied by the UN, that was supposed to be going to the starving population.

And let's talk about allies going into Iraq. Specifically France. Why didn't Chirac want us in there? Well I guess it could have been the fact that we found so many French munitions when we invaded. Despite the fact that we didn't find any WMD, there was still plenty of munitions that we found that broke the rules. Anything that could possible carry WMD was banned, and yet Kuwait still had some Scuds coming in. They also found some mortars with chemical agents in them. I also believe that there was some form of WMD somewhere. I think Saddam probably had them shipped out of the country pre-invasion.

A quick comment about the Germany being our allie. We are good friends with them now, but there were still insurgent nazi groups killing Americans for a few years after the war there too. Probably not as common as it happens in Iraq, but it did happen.

And lastly, I don't think it's a fair comparison when we are talking our use of WMD against Japan. Different time, different war. I am happy that we used them. If the allies had to invade Japan, it would have killed more people. Can you imagine if we would have had to shell and invade Tokyo? At least we got it over with. Those 2 bombs ended the war that cost over 50 MILLION lives world wide.
