In addition to what has already been mentioned, is she using hemostats? If so, debarb the hook and you won't need the hemostats anymore (or need them much less). Since you're not smashing the fly with the hemostats, it will last a lot longer. Barbless will also help in the case of a errant cast the lands the fly in the flesh...
