Dryrod, you won't (or at least shouldn't) have that problem with the high-end stuff. I never did when I was using good head cement. But that low-end stuff must be a different formula, and you can practically watch it thicken in a sealed jar.
Everybody has to make their own gear decisions. For me, the clear nailpolish does what I require. If I need a stronger bond than that, it's time for zap-a-gap or epoxy as the case may be.
