Orange Asher -
I did this because it is a dry which met the swap plan. But it is used as a wet fly also and MacFly had said something about wanting nymphs or streamers. So I thought it was a good choice for this swap.
It historically has been used on high mountain lakes. But an acknowledged expert old timer put me onto using the Orange asher during a caddis hatch.
I was fishing the end of the famous Mother's Day Caddis hatch on the Arkansas River which is really a tax day hatch. Anyway I was standing thy deep in the current when the yellow rubber hatch started popping when I hooked into a nice rainbow. The skipper of the lead yellow rubber pontoon boat back paddered his boat into an eddie so that I could have some room to play around with the Rainbow who willingly jumped in the air a couple of times for the enjoyment of white water rafters. When I netted the fish the pontoon flotilla passed on by with a polite knod.
I have never used it on warmwater species but I bet that Crappie and blue gill would chase and maybe so small mouths too.
