The fish are not predictable. I have found the night to be great fishing at times. I do know that dawn and dusk are good times. But during the day if there is no wind and the lake is like glass the fish will be less active due to the fish having to look up. The sun hurts there eyes. A small ripple on the water is best.
But just like humans we are not always hungry at the same time of the day. I have been out there trolling and I put my line in and every 5 feet hook up. And Been on the water for 12 to 20 hrs with out a strike of any kind.
That is why the call it fishing not catching.[
