Floyd Lamb report 6/9/09
#1
Well woke up this morning and decided to hit up Floyd Lamb to waste some time. I got there around 8 and started off in the reeds on the top pond. No Bass Action there. Decided to try my luck at the lowest pond. Started by using a weighted texas rig with a black 4 inch powerworm w/ the u tail since the water was very mucky and there was overcast. About my 5th cast I get a decent strike. I waited for him to take off with it and when he did, I set the hook and the damn thing broke in 2 (pic below)!! Needless to say the fish got off...I was very upset for about 5 minutes or so.. So upset that i switched to bluegill fishing. Fished for about 45 minutes or so catching bluegill on these berkley grubs in green color on a bobber with a 12 inch leader. Once I cooled off from the hook incident, the sun started shining real bright so I threw on a Pumpkinseed 4 inch powerworm to try at the bass again. Downsized my hooks to a 1/0 since the bigger ones I had were breaking. About 15 minutes into working the shore I get a solid strike and he runs with it =D!! I set that hook and fought it out hard with him for a good couple minutes. He ended up being a fatty !! Biggest bass i have pulled out of there yet! woot

Measured 22 1/2 inches with my measuring tape and he had decent girth.. 5lbs 2 oz.

Overall a slow day.. There was alot of people there today and I was the only one I saw the whole morning catch anything = /
