I like the strap-ons. There's a quick release, so they're easy to get off. Not hard to get on either. They're not too tight, like some fins. I use wading boots, and yes the strap-ons rub, but I'll put up with that rather than go barefoot with regular fins, which are a lot harder to put on when in the craft. I position the loaded craft at water's edge with the fins on one arm, walk in wading boots to the front, sit down and then take the fins off my arm and put them on, making sure the quick-release is positioned right, then pulling the strap tight.
I know what I want for Christmas: those expensive fins that flip up to let you walk. But, then again, I'm used to coping with the strap-ons. I'm sure I'll find a greater fishing need for that gift occasion.
