Hey Peter805.
I am able to use my 8 to 10 foot flyrods in small creeks as you have described. The casting technique is what makes all the difference. Spey casting and roll casting was invented for such instances where there is no room for the conventional fly cast.

I have 3 different "No Load" casts that I do and they are all effective for getting to the fish.[cool]
