how to add oars to a float tube?
#55
I'm new to the forum but have been poking around for a method to attatch oars to my FC4. I BELIEVE I can take the top 4 inches or so from a 5 gallon pail (this is slightly smaller than the tube on the FC4) and shove it over the end of the tube then air it up. I've tried it with a whole pail and it sure gets tight, no slip what so ever. Then I intend to glue black ABS plumbing pipe to the pail side at a 45% outward lean. This will raise and widen the pivot point of the oars. This will provide clearance over the side bags and increase leaverage to the oars. I've even found a threaded end cap that I beleive I can glue to the pail and will allow the pipes to be unscrewed. The only problem I'm having is designing the oar locks. What I'll probably use is an eye bolt big enough to slip the oar shaft through and bolt it loosley to the end of the ABS extensions.

Any thoughts?
