Hey there FishFinAtIcs, There is a site called gargetter or gargetters.com/techniques/ that says that the way to catch longnose gar is just like you catch needlefish. Get them to grab something that gets tangled in their teeth and pull 'em in. There are three species of Alligator Gar, the longnose, shortnose, and the spotted gar in the US.
