G'day Mike

That dodo is something else hey!. And yet I am told the IGFA record was beaten again just recently with a 90 lber. Can you imagine that, hell I can.

Down here (in Oz) another angler tells me he saw a 83 lber in the fish markets not so long ago.

Seeing you asked about the lure it was caught on, I have to freely declare that it was caught on a Demon Flying Fish Lure.

This is a new and deadly "match the hatch" lure design from down under that is causing it's fare share of big fish to be caught. It fits into what I call the "trolling mega jig fly category" of lures given it's flex body, fly type flashings, perfect flying fish body shape and the fact that it can be scented as well.

http://www.outdoorcart.com/demon/flyingfish.htm

Surface skip, troll, high speed troll or down rigged, they are definately a deadly tackle item from what anglers are tellling me and don't they smoke a treat. The big mahi is just one great example and off Florida and Mexico they are coming into their own. The Bahama's is next on the list.

Speakiing of new designs, here is another. Name? Smokin Joe's!

http://www.demonjigs.com/smokinjoe.html

A big trolling fly with a 3 oz (internally) weighted head, special mylar face, HD epoxy head, double SS hook rig on 450 lb stainless wire, a special belnd of tail flashings and more. In a nut shell, damn deadly and hooks so sharp that when you accidently hook yourself you don't bleed.

What happens when the tail gets wrecked over time? Just pull on a skirt of your choice.

Too easy as we say down this way.

Burnin Thumbs!

Steve B
Moderator Lures/Baits Forum
http://www.demonjigs.com
