"Horse size trout"
#1
We fished an afternoon at the Santa Ana River Lakes yesterday 11/25/01. The trout were not biting for us as we caught only three fish between three of us and lost about 5. The point of this piece is that we witnessed constantly rolling trout the size of your lower leg that left boils rolling on the water the size one might associate with a ten pound bass. We threw everthing at them both mini-jigs, castmasters and plugs but got nothing, not even a follow-up. I really don't know what they were rising on, usually they roll on flys but I didn't see any any where. Maybe they were rolling just because they were"happy." Anyway if you can figure that one out you might bag a 15 pounder

George Van Zant
http:// www.bigfishtackle.com/georgescorner.htm
