I totally agree with you. I believe that the wide gaps are alot better for fishing plastics due to the extra room that the gap gives you for the bait to slide down.

Most of the time i will use 3/0 and 4/0 hooks for most plastics. Now if im using big plastic swimbaits i will will use 5/0 extra widegap hooks. Why? well because the plastic on those are often alot thicker and you want that hook to have the room for the bait to slide down.

To make a long story short there really is no magic hook for every application. You need to match you hook to your bait. Hope this helps [Smile]
