I use Powell rods, I have an account with them and I get a discount so I'm biased. Anywho-one piece rods, graphite blanks, Fuji eyes, made in AMERICA! Lifetime warranty! Granted they retail for up to $169.99 but you get what you pay for. Don't get me wrong, I started with a cheap rod that I could afford and it's taken a long time to get where I'm at today but I've lived and learned about the right rod, reel and line.
Every rod has it's place, some of mine I use for different baits but I have cranks, weighted plastics, weightless plastics (senkos), jigs and topwater rods....I'm sure I'm missing something.
The biggest difference I've noticed in the price of rods is the sensitivity and the backbone of the rod. A 'whippy' rod is not going to get the job done. I love fighting fish but I love getting them to the boat/kickboat/shore for a picture even better. I use rods that I can control the fish to do what I want, get it to me, in the boat, weigh, measure, picture, release. I was using one of my Powell 703 rods in my kick boat tonight fishing reeds and heavy grass.
I was questioning my line when one bass dove straight into the grass but the backbone of my rod pulled it out and I was able to land it.
No need to explain: you get what you pay for.
