I agree bleeding any fish is well worth the time and effort, especially when it comes time to fillet and eat them. I have caught several cats over the 8 pound mark this year. And the one I forgot to bleed was a mess cleaning and the meat did not taste nearly as well. One thing I might add is poking your knife all the way through the fish in the backbone right before where the tail starts. This also will remove a lot of blood. Also if I don't bleed my cats the damn things stay alive for over 12 hours and I don't like filleting a live fish makes me feel bad[:/]
