A car battery works fine, and may be the lightest and most economical choice, IF, IF you only go out a few times per year? Curious as to how long your car batteries last and what brand you use. The internet references say anywhere from 20 to 100 deep cycles on a car battery before failure, compared to 200 for a deep cycle design. My guess would be you only get 20 cycles if used once a week (less if used daily), but many more if used once every 2 months, with the greater recovery time. That seems to be the case with my electric bikes, but I've only tried it once, just recently. I charge them up very slowly over 2 days, immediately after EACH use.
