Southern California Saltwater Report 9/25-10/1
#7

Southern California Saltwater

Report for October 1, 2003 (Wednesday)

Things at both Catalina and San Clemente will be slow for a few days as it will take a while for the water to warm and clear. I suspect that we can wave bye bye to the rest of the local yellowtail season. They never showed in any numbers this year at the flats on up to Rocky Point.

Way Up North- Avila and Monterey
Rockfish the mainstay with albies for the few boats and anglers going out. Rockfish also prominent in the counts. Check out Virg's and Chris's.

Up North- Channel Islands
Lots of albies taken on a good number of boats going out! Rockfish are a steady count too!

LA Area- Catalina Island
Very Slow almost no sporties going until things clear.

Further South- San Clemente
Clemente is no better off than Catalina.

San Diego- Local and Offshore
Local boats are getting a lot of bonito and a few yellowtail along with the usual white fish, bass and rockfish.

LA Local
Local fishing was basically restriced to SWR and a few Calico and Sand Bass. Lots of Sculpin, White fish and tons of short lings. Lings are lots of fun on bass tackle.
