Getting bands does require luck, but the more birds you shoot the better chance you have at getting bands. We killed the bird so I am unsure how we educated him. I also enjoy duck hunting, but it is not near the rush of trying to fool a goose. People sky bust geese everyday and they still come into spreads everyday. I've hunted by sky busters before and it makes for a long day, we were jump shooting which is not sky busting. The bird wasn't educated he was killed.
