I just bought the goods to build a ice rod. This is kind of a experiment/ see how I like it. I've done some research and have a few questions.

Can you use fly thread for the guides, or like rayon?

Is rod finish just the the "glue" that goes over the guide threads, or do you need to coat the whole shaft in a finish?

Does it matter how fast you spin the rod as the guide coat finishes?

I'm doing this project really cheap, more for fun.
