I thought I would add my own funny run in with a DWR officer.

Several years ago my brother and I were fishing at Manning Meadow on the first day that it opened. We were on the side opposite the road and we saw an officer walking around the res. and checking people. We were obeying all laws so we weren't worried. He finally made it around to us and I had caught a large brook trout. This was back when the limit was two fish and they had recently introduced the cutts in there. The DWR had stopped planting brookies there and believed that there were no more in the res. The officer reached us and checked my license and commented that he was surprised I had actually caught a brook trout. I said that I had caught another and released it. While checking my brother's license a tuber cast towards shore and the officer seeing the splash commented "that fish that just jumped looked like a brook trout, I could tell by the fin coloration." Both my brother and I kenw the real reason for the splash but my brother being a little quicker out of the gates made the timely comment, "Looked like a castmaster to me." All the officer could do being caught in his lie was walk away.
