well first of all, try not to use lures that will snag. For example, I often use frogs to fish my weedy lake, and they are almost impossible to snag. When you do snag, point your rod straight at the snag, and crank. If it is in a tree, reel very slowly and try not to get it tangled. Strong line helps, but if you keep losing lures, just try a diffrent spot or diffrent lures.
PS the only time I have ever lost a frog is when I tossed it 20 feet into thick woods, and I fish dense pads 6 hours a day.
