I agree that some one on active duty should not be required t have a license, but not a life time lisence.
the reason is that the cost of the license is not much tobegin with and the second is that today more than half the men in our nation have served at one time or another. to give every one who has served a free life time fishing license would litterilay cripple the state fishing industry because you are looking at roughly 2/3's loss of all license sales. that is just not economicle for a state to give up the income that is used for planting trout and other fish in rivers and lakes.
we know for a fact we need these plantings to keep the sport fishing industry alive.
what the state wont loose is sales of license to low income homes and disabled individuals, reason being is many of them can not afford to buy a license and go fishing to begin with.
what the state will gain by an over all state wide program is a relief form state funds at least for one or two meals per month. If you stop to add up what the cost of feeding a family just for one or two meals state wide you would be astounded and wonder how a state can even stay in opperation.
you would be shocked and dismayed to even think of a polition cutting taxes for the rich and at the same time to off set the tax cuts they cut the amount of benifits and services provided to the destitute. it is realy a horrifying amount of money.
there is so much much much more to it than just giving a free life time license to every person how has served for his country. moer to it than just looking out for you own because every person in this country is your own, not just those who served.
I have seen the damage it cause to families, I have seen men come back unfit to live in society. become acholics durg atics. only to pass on the deffimations on to his family. I have watch mothers turn to prostitution to suport her kids I have seen kids on the streets selling drugs because it is the only game they can get in to with out any hope of a fair education. I have seen kids killing each other for a pair of shoes or five dollars in food stamps. true there those who have not served who have gone the sour path. but you can rest asured that thier fathers and grand fathers served. the damage is a retro active domino affect. as every one knows sewer waters flow down hill once flushed and even some times backs up in your fase.
this is no exaguration. I live just out side of detroit and it is pushing its way to my house every day.
what I had mentioned above is not the rule no it is more like 10% that come out an behave that way. there may be a fair chance that they may have gone in with these problems to begin with. no one can realy say.
there is one fact that is known is that if you serve for your country you are eligable for education grants when you come home from service. almost every one who served will be inducted in to a local police force befor a person who just go to the accadomy to learn the profession.
an excepted rule is well trained service men are an asset and are wanted by most of todays industry, much different than years ago. those who serve full terms and come home are concidered stable employees and are safe for hiring.
the point is if you go with just for service men then you will most likely loose, but if you make it an issue that will benifit those I have mentioned many times you will have a better chance of blanketing disabled vets along with disabled and destitute citizens of your state.
I would sugest keeping it simple and to the piont and show who will benifit as a result and how it will effect every one as a whole.
