Chironomids are not the meal ticket right now for Strawberry or Soldier Creek. Not saying they can't work, just real slow.
My weekend was full of Rainbow and Cutts up to 25". But, I was using a Type II in the wind and Intermediate on the calmer waters. Fishing 20' to 50'. Caught the big one about 50' off the boat launch.

Saturday night was just too windy, tried drifting with a drift sock on the boat but only yielded one. Sunday started of calm but 10 wind picked up. lasted all day, but I do better in chop.
Monday started off calm but by 11, was full blown all day. Only managed a few hours and not as many fish as Sunday, but enough to keep me interested.
