That's exactly what I was doing. Just dragging around a piece of shrimp while a threw a jig at the rocks along the dyke. I was just using a white curly tail grub with a white jig head. I didn't try tipping the jig with anything, but it might work even better. I was catching cats earlier in the year on white bass, but shrimp has been working better lately. Though the white bass that I've been using has been frozen, thawed, and frozen again several times, so that could be the problem. @SkunkedAgain: Yeah, it was a good day. I finally decided to try TD's patented "catfish bait troll", and it was much more exciting to catch them that way than just sitting. Plus I could cover more ground.
