Downside of Nanofil will be your knot between it and the mainline. Stuff is slippery and tricky to get to hold, knot wise. There is very few knots that work with that stuff. Double palomar from the Nanofil to your fly is more or less the only option there and if I remember correctly it was a Albright Knot that worked tying Nano to another line (Fluoro for me). Also Nano has zero stretch. I wouldn't be pondering much below 6lb. For me I wouldn't go below 8lb. Fast impacts/hits snaps that stuff like a dry twig. Been there done that. Not fly fishing but on a med light spinning rod.
After all that. I don't see a use for it fly fishing wise. I use it on a one of my spinning rods and use Fluoro for the leader if in clear water or a bottom technique but I am able to use a small swivel verse having to deal with a fluoro to Nano knot that is tricky. If one pays attention to several fishing shows on TV you will see almost all of them that are using Nano also use a Fluoro leader.
