Nothing like waiting until the last minute...
Finally got my trout done. I caught billions of trout this year, but never bothered to take pics or measure, because there would always be "next time". Well, I'm damn lucky I was able to get out before Nov. 1st and had to beg my wife to let me -- she's a good woman, sho.
Anyhow, Strawberry was the ticket. I invited FG to come along and help me test out my "new" aluminum piece of crap boat that I "think" didn't have any more holes in it. I put it in the water, went back to the truck to grab something, came back to the boat and noticed that there was 1" of water in the boat... Son of a... One of the rivets near the plug came completely out. Nice perfect hole, letting in water like it was its job. My inner McGuyver was summoned and a combo of chewing gum, duct tape, and pure jimmy-rigging skillz plugged that baby right up.
Fishing was terrific, and was good pretty much all day. The water was glass until about noon, but the wind never got beyond breezy for more than a minute or two, and that was rare. Red, purple, and white were all good colors, but a big articulated black leech/bugger was the best producer of the day. It was so calm in the morning that I was able to anchor in 40ft of water and cast to the rising fish all around me. The water was clear and calm, so it was a blast to watch them chase the bugger. Once hooked, two or three others would usually follow their friend up to the boat before taking off into the depths. Lots of cutty's, but I needed at least one rainbow. I thought I was doomed until pretty much dark:30 when I finally got bit heading back to the truck. Boo ya.
