Willard...weather or not 11-14-13
#22
[#0000FF](slapping forehead) Man, how could I have left off the perchies. Got lots of them. Also caught both rainbows and browns...usually during the winter or very early spring. Once the water warms they either get et by the predators or die off from heat stress. Water gets too warm in summer but...like other species...they move down the canal system from the Ogden and Weber Rivers.

The mirror carp and common carp are essentially both the same species. Just a minor genetic fluctuation that can see both types coming from the same spawning female. In a nutshell, the common carp has a regular scale pattern. In the mirror carp there are typically just a few randomly placed scales...often much larger...over an otherwise smooth and scaleless skin. They almost look like a hybrid between catfish and carp. Ugh.

I'm sure you know what common carp look like, and I am guessing you have also seen mirror carp. But for the benefit of anybody who has not seen the latter, here is a pic.
