[#0000ff]Quite right. But that is the same language spouted by some of the "others" when we try to fish flies with spinning gear on "artificial flies and lures" waters. It was the same on some streams in Colorado and I narrowly avoided physical violence from the wildly waving hands of a couple of passionate Orvis dorks. And I and others in Utah have experienced the same attitudes on some of the more popular fly fishing streams in our state.
I respect the right of private owners to designate their ponds as "fly fishing only". But I strongly disagree with any state making public waters the exclusive domain of special interest groups. That would be like ruling that only Fords could use a state highway.

What I was posting is there is DEFINITELY a definition for Fly Fishing. On that should not be ignored although not a issue in Utah.
Knowing there are laws surrounding Fly Fishing only, although not in Utah yet unless pay to play.
States that do make Public waters Fly Fishing only have their reasoning.
BUT, again, Utah isn't one of these. So Spin fishermen/women can indeed fish anywhere. However, what is on the end of their line is what matters.
Artificial waters mean NO sented, salted, flavored lure or fly. This does cause a lot of confusion as some think rubber lures are artificial, not realizing they do have one of the above built in.
Orvis Dorks, Shimano Stooges...not really adult, but I guess fun.
What I got from this thread is everyone hates the same thing, likes the same things and nobody does anything bad, so I say we are good to go.[]
