I know that I am going to start wearing my life jacket, get a pee bucket on the boat, not go alone, get a ladder, and be extra careful when fishing in cold water.
This goes to show what a difference a life jacket could make. We must have gone past this boat within minutes after he had fallen out. Even if he couldn't get back into the boat or swim to shore, we may have seen him and we could have helped him. Seconds matter in situations like this.
