Line for ice fishing
#5
Regular old Berkley Trilene XL in 4 and 6 lb. has served me well for over 3 decades of ice fishing. I also like 2 lb test so I tried some P-Line CXX mono and it worked very nice. Last year I tried Northlands Bionic Ice mono in 3 lb and it was a nice bridge between 2 and 4 lb test. and it performed very well on 20"+ trout, bass to 17" and bluegills. No knot failure, low visibility and it was limp allowing for excellent lure action. I'll keep using this brand. I've never seen any major advantages/diSadvantages in fluoro vs. mono in my ice fishing. Buy some less expensive 75 - 100 yd spools and see which one you like best.
